Star
The Star guitar was named after Eddie Van Halen. One day Eddie came to my shop in Azusa, Ca with a copy of a new Explorer guitar. He wanted me to refinish it in black. I was really busy at the time and told him it would be a month or so before I could paint it. He came back in a week with this guitar. He had drilled a series of holes, about 1 inch in diameter along the back side of the guitar, and then cut through half of the holes with a saw. This gave the guitar the look of a mouth being opened, with teeth showing. I liked the shape of this guitar and we made one (without the teeth). We all hoped that Eddie would be famous, so we named this guitar the Star guitar after Eddie. We are now reintroducing this wild looking guitar.
